Ephesians Study: Introduction

I have been struggling on where to read and study in my bible lately.

Jumping from the Psalms of Asaph, to just a random Psalm, to somewhere I just found interesting....or not reading at all.

Every Monday some ladies in my church meet each evening and we have a bible study and lesson on a certain subject. I am loving them immensely! This week something jumped out at me, and it had nothing to do with what the lesson was on at all.

Someone made the statement, "You can't just open your bible and read and expect something to jump out, you have to pray and ask God to show you what you need for that day. Ask Him where to read, what to read, and so on."

I knew that. But hadn't been doing so.

Until yesterday.

Before I grabbed my bible, I prayed and ask God where I should be reading right now. Where should I be studying and learning something. Like an extremely loud thought in my brain, rang Ephesians.

So, here we are. Making myself accountable through this study I am beginning, telling all of you what I'll be reading and learning. I pray you will enjoy reading along with me, through the use of these future posts, to see what God shows me.

I have only read chapter one and I am putting on the breaks and staying here for awhile. There is so much in chapter one alone that I don't even realize yet!

But for the first several posts, we will be looking at what we are in Ephesians 1:3-14.

"3. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: 4. According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: 5. Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, 6. To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. 7. In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; 8. Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;

9. Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself: 10. That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:

11. In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: 12. That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. 13. In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, 14. Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory."

I'm going to assign homework to those who want to go along with me. Read these verses and make a list of things you see that we are.

My next post will be on the first things I found that this chapter says I am.

Come back and find out what it is!
