I thought yesterday's study was my favorite...well that's changed!
Alright, here we go!
Question: What does it mean to be without blame?
Eph. 1:4 KJV
"According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:"
There is SO much in this one verse, the bible is amazing!
In vrs 4, the phrase "without blame" means:
From the Greek word: amomos (am'-o'-mos): Unblemished (literally and figuratively) : - without blame (blemish, fault, spot), faultless, unblameable.
1 Corinthians 1:8 KJV
"Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ."
"Blameless" here in the Greek is anegkletos (an-eng'-klay-tos): Unaccused.
Oh, its getting good!
Philippians 2:15 KJV
" That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;"
2 Peter 3:14 KJV
"Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless."
Colossians 1:22 KJV
" In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:"
Answer: I think Colossians 1:22 says it all. Through Christ's death on the cross we were made blameless. He put on all our sins and took all the punishment and blame for it. The perfect, spotless, unblemished lamb of sacrifice...took it all for us!
Like the song, 'His Life For Mine' says, "He became sin, now I am clean." (full song at the end of this post)
Now when God Himself looks at me, Jesus says, "I took her place, her blame and sin, she's blameless."
He sees Christ's shed blood that was poured out for the lost world, and knows I am without blame! Free from sin, clean, holy, righteous in His sight.
So, what does it mean to be without blame?
It means my Saviour paid the ultimate price, on a cruel cross, so that I could be free from all my sin...when He did not deserve it. He was the blameless one, the perfect one. But He chose to take my place, so that I could be blameless...free!
So far in Ephesians we are blessed, chosen, holy and without blame...and that's just looking at two verses.
What more do we deserve?...we don't even deserve those
God is good!
