Did you know that you can legally disown someone? No matter who they are, what they've done or haven't done...for no reason at all. But...
If you've adopted someone, legally, you cannot disown them. Once adopted into your family, they are there permanently, there is no changing it.
Eph. 1:5 KJV
"Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,"
Question: What does it mean to be adopted?
Adopted: Taken as one's own; received as son and heir; selected for use.
Adoption: 1. The act of adopting, or the state of being adopted; the taking and treating of a stranger as one's own child. 2. The receiving as one's own, what is new or not natural.
3.God's taking the sinful children of men into his favor and protection.
Adoption by testament is the appointing of a person to be heir, by will, or condition of his taking the name, arms, etc. of the adopter.
Romans 8:14-15 KJV
"For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father."
Galatians 4:4-7 KJV
"But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ."
The phrase, 'Abba', is literally like you calling out 'Daddy' when you need something. God, our heavenly Father, our Abba, is ready to come to help us whenever we cry out.
Answer: Once saved, you are adopted by God. Son's of God, children of God, one of His very own. No longer a son of man, or children of the devil. Free from sin and Jesus is now your big brother, and He's already won all the fights for you!
Adoption is permanent. Therefore, God can't disown you. He can't change His mind and return you, so to speak. If that's not eternal security right there, I don't know what is. Once saved, always saved!
I am a child of God! Are you?
