Galatians (Part 1: ch 1 vs1-5)

Updated: Feb 5, 2021

I've recently come into some free time that I wasn't expecting. I'm the type of person who's mind wanders to crazy places when I'm not busy. And I have found that reading my bible helps immensely. Of course it would, right! So, wanna do a bible study with me? Comment, send me a message, email me, whatever you'd like and we can discuss or just enjoy doing a study together through this post.

Galatians is where I have parked my wandering mind for right now. So, let's dive in and show you what God has shown me today in chapter one...a few verses at a time. I just want to share my thoughts and hope it can be a help to someone other than myself.

"1. Paul, an apostle, (not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead;) 2. And all the brethren which are with me, unto the churches of Galatia:

3. Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ, 4. Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father: 5. To whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen." - Galatians 1:1-5 KJV

Here Paul begins his letter to Galatia by telling the Galatians that he wasn't an apostle of man, but of Jesus Christ. He was not sent by man, but commissioned by Jesus Christ Himself to preach the gospel to the world. He also tells the people of Galatia about the gospel, right off the bat! Okay, Paul, let's not hold back or be shy about it. Be bold for Jesus, sir!

This man had a goal and he was getting it done. When you are commissioned, called, sent by Jesus to tell the world of Him and what He has done for them...you should do so!

18. And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen. - Matthew 28:18-20 KJV

Paul was obeying and fulfilling the great commission as Jesus commanded. At the beginning of his letter to these people he declared the gospel. He proclaimed who he was sent by and what Jesus had done for the world.

How often do we get the chance to speak Jesus? To share what He has done for us personally and for others, and we sit there with our mouths shut. We have such an opportunity in the world we live in to share Him and we don't... The Great Commission is not a suggestion, its a commandment. Jesus commands us to tell the world. If we don't obey that command as Paul did, that's disobedience and that is sin.

I'm right there with you on this, I don't obey this command enough myself... However we can, with whatever resources available, we need to share Jesus. Introduce the lost to the Saviour Himself. If you're a child of God, you have a commandment, you've been commissioned, you've been called by God to tell the world of what He has done and His glory.

Let's be present day Paul's and be bold for Jesus.
